What is Japanese Knotweed?

Japanese Knotweed, along with Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed are the main three terrestrial invasive plant species listed on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife & Natural Environment Act (Scotland). They pose a significant threats to the environment, property, and local ecology in the UK, though are surrounded by hysteria and a very profitable industry that is keen to undertake costly remediation measures - this is where the benefit of engaging a fully independent, horticulturally-trained and certificated surveyor of invasives can make a great deal of sense.
