Soil testing and analysis
Soil tests are available in the greater Glasgow area as a stand-alone service or as part of other consultancy packages. Soil health is one of the most important and yet least often considered elements of garden health. Poor soil, or poorly managed soil, can have a devastating effect on plants and trees. Understanding your soil conditions, and applying fertilisers or undertaking remedial measures can make the difference between a happy, healthy garden and one that struggles.
Soil tests can be tailored towards your exact requirements, be that growing fruit & vegetables, ornamental plants, or improving your lawn.
As part of your soil test, alongside soil pH and texture, the following elements are analysed: Nitrogen; Phosphate; Potassium; Magnesium; Calcium; Sulphur; Sodium; Copper; Iron; Manganese; Zinc; Boron; and Molybdenum. Recommendations for soil remediation and fertilisers are included in the report, along with your soil’s cation exchange capacity (CEC), an indicator of how well your soil can effectively supply nutrients to plants.
